Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Users have commenced resorting to custom matches made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.
Comprehending Battlefield 6 Tasks
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
However, when completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
